Virechan
Medicated purgation to clear Pitta from the small intestine and related channels. It is widely used for skin, liverishness, acidity, and heat-related complaints after proper oleation.
About this treatment
Virechan is Shodhana through the downward path using a physician-chosen purgative after Snehana and Swedana. It is the main cleansing for Pitta: skin disease, chronic acidity, migraine with heat, some liver-related dullness, and inflammatory conditions where Rakta-Pitta is involved. Loose stools from infection are not Virechan.
Preparation with medicated ghee is essential so doshas leave without excess dryness or collapse. At Vishwashree Clinic the dose is individual. The procedure day is spent at rest. The following days use a rice-gruel diet that thickens gradually. Skipping this diet is the usual reason people feel weak after a poorly done purge.
